Last week in Japan there was a number of new releases including Disaster Report 4 Plus, Battlefield V, Shenmue I & II, Neko Tomo, and Nari Kids Park HUGtto! PreCure to hit the top-20. Japanese sales tracker Media Create released the latest video game software and hardware sales data from the week of November 19 to November 25, 2018.
The #1 of the week goes to Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! & Let’s Go, Eevee! with 162,467 units sold for the Nintendo Switch to put its total up to 823,707 units sold in Japan in its second week.
At #2 we have the first new title of the week with Battlefield V which sold a big 110,653 units in its opening week. Here’s how it compares to the debuts of previous entries in the series for Japan:
- (2011) Battlefield 3 – 151,102 [PS3 – 123,378|X360 – 27,723]
- (2013-2014) Battlefield 4 – 146,498 [PS3 – 121,699|PS4 – 24,799]
- (2015) Battlefield: Hardline – 96,799 [PS3 – 28,976|PS4 – 68,832]
- (2016) Battlefield 1 – 113,081 [PS4]
- (2018) Battlefield V – 110,653 [PS4]
The next new entry is Disaster Report 4 Plus: Summer Memories with 42,272 units sold on PlayStation 4 which is close to the series’ spinoff title City Shrouded in Shadow that sold 48,935 units in its debut in October 2017. Shenmue I & II on PS4 followed at #4 with 37,529 units sold. Super Mario Party charted #5 with 24, 450 units sold on Switch.
As for other new titles of the week, Neko Tomo debuted at #14 with 5,212 units sold for Nintendo 3DS and Nari Kids Park HUGtto! PreCure charted #18 with 3,301 units sold for the Nintendo Switch.
In hardware sales, the PlayStation 4 sold 13,281 units and the PS4 Pro sold 11,083 units to combine for 24,364 units between the two. The Nintendo Switch continues its heavy sales with 108,375 units sold to make up 74.7% of all hardware sales in the week. Going by Media Create’s figures, the Nintendo Switch is currently at 5,631,161 units sold in Japan since its launch in March 3, 2017.
