Square Enix shared the latest on The World Ends With You: Final Remix with info on its post-game story called “A New Day” as well as gameplay details on its two-player multiplayer mode for Switch.
A New Day
That day, Neku suddenly saw a vision—high-rise buildings disappearing left and right, accompanied by someone’s voice.
“Everything, will disappear.”
Neku then found himself at the Scramble Crossing.
He was somewhere different prior to that, but how?
The perplexed Neku then received a familiar text message.
It was a notification saying the “Hard Mode” of the Reapers’ Game had begun…
Here’s a new character that appears in A New World:
Coco Atarashi
A Reaper girl who loves Harajuku fashion. She’s bright, cheerful, and shrewd. She has a habit of always butting into conversations out of nowhere.
New Noise
In A New Day we’ll see a new kind of Noise that is identified by purple Noise symbols when scanning.
Mission Battle
There are various missions that occur other than regular battles in A New Day. Here are the different kinds of missions you’ll encounter:
- Curse Mission: A mission that sees Neku’s HP gradually deplete during battle.
- Restore Mission: A mission that sees Neku’s HP restore bits at a time when he defeats Noise.
- Split Mission: A mission that has Noise that split and increase in numbers during battle.
- Sync Rave Mission: A mission that doubles the Sync Rate accumulation
- Raven Ball Mission: A mission that has balls that damage Neku during battle.
There’s a total of five mission-types.
Share Play
From the menu you can select “Play with two players.” While playing with two players, your partner’s skills are displayed with pins on the bottom-right part of the screen. Instead of using stylus actions to use the pins, you’ll use the Joy-Con to perform patterns to activate the psychs while fighting Noise. You can check the partner’s skill activation methods using the TIPS function.
If you can work well together with your partner to damage the Noise, you’ll get a bonus sync increase.
The World Ends With You launches in Japan on September 27, 2018 for Nintendo Switch. The game releases in the West in October 12, 2018.
