In a cute twist to the announcement date reveal, Yuji Horii and the other presenters built the release date for Dragon Quest Builders 2 out of blocks in a 4-player multiplayer session. The game is coming out in December 20, 2018.
Square Enix also revealed that Koei Tecmo is also helping develop the game, especially the action aspects which players said were lacking in the first game.
The regular version of the game will be priced at 7,800 yen (with tax). There are two waves of priced DLC planned for post-release, and the staff revealed that this was because lots of players of the first game asked for post-launch content support.
Early buyers of the game will get a recipe to make Slime Towers, while buying digitally on the PS Store or Nintendo eShop will net you a recipe for pixel decorations for Dragon Quest II’s Heroes. Physical edition buyers will get recipes to make blocks with emblems from Dragon Quest II on them. Finally, buying from Square Enix e-Store will get buyers an extra origami pack to make some of the regular mainstay monsters.
Dragon Quest Builders 2 is coming to PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch on December 20, 2018 in Japan.
