Bandai Namco announced that its smartphone MMO title God Eater Online, which launched in February 2017, will be shutting down for good in a couple months on September 27, 2018.
When God Eater Online was first revealed, it was promoted as an MMO Hunting Action game that puts “100 players on the field” with the concept of having a bunch of players in the same area to hunt down Aragami.
In addition to many familiar features from the God Eater series such as God Arc weapons and other fundamentals, it actually added to the God Eater lore with a story that was set several years after the events of God Eater 2: Rage Burst, set in a branch located in the Himalayas.
Bandai Namco posted a notice of termination on the official website, stating that while it had many fans who enjoyed the game since launch, they’ve unfortunately decided to end its service on September 27, 2018.
No reason was provided for its termination, but its microtransaction “Oracle Cube” will no longer be available as of August 27, 2018.
God Eater Online is available in Japan on iOS and Android. The game launched on February 15, 2017.
