The Nintendo Labo released on April 20 and it sold about 119,000 units in Japan in its opening week. Japanese sales tracker Media Create updated with some additional info on its sales.
Nintendo Labo released in two versions with the Nintendo Labo Toy-Con 01: Variety Kit that sold 90,410 units along with the Nintendo Labo Toy-Con 02: Robot Kit which sold 28,629 for a combined total of 119,039 units between both kits.
According to Media Create, both versions, Variety Kit and Robot Kit, sold through about 30% of their initial shipments. In spite of the release of the Nintendo Labo, Nintendo Switch hardware sales saw a slight drop from the previous week (34,165 from 36,308 units).
With that said, it doesn’t appear to have had much traction in its debut; however, Media Create says that considering Nintendo Labo’s characteristics are known as well as its educational value, so it should be interesting to see how it performs during Golden Week (April 28 – May 6) and the summer holidays.
Nintendo Labo is available on the Switch.
