Nippon Ichi Software is working on an HD remake of Disgaea: Hour of Darkness and the company shared its first screenshots to show off improvements made on the classic tactical RPG series’ debut.
The characters of the game will show their over-the-top battle animations as flashy as ever in Disgaea Refine.

Two years after the death of his father, Overlord Krichevskoy, the demon prince Laharl awakens to discover that the Netherworld is in turmoil. With unlikely allies, his devious vassal Etna and the angel trainee Flonne, he must battle his way to supremacy to retake the throne and become the next Overlord.

Choose from over 40 unique character types and a variety of jobs Martial Artist, Archer, Mage, Ninja, and more.
Even with a max level of 9999, use Transmigration to start all over again, but your characters will be even stronger per level!
There are countless items you can upgrade to further power up your characters.
While in battle, you can throw allies up ledges to reach enemies in hard-to-reach areas or toss enemies around instead.
And let’s not forget the Dark Assembly feature, where NPCs can vote on proposals to aid Laharl’s party. These proposals include unlocks of special maps needed for endings and secret characters. There’s a lot more that goes on here as well.
Lastly, here’s a look at the Limited Edition version that will go for 9,200 yen. It includes the game, a special illustration box, the original soundtrack, and a calendar.
Disgaea Refine releases in Japan on July 26, 2018 for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.
