The Adventures of Elena Temple is a sidescrolling game of dungeon exploration, having players work their way through traps and monsters as they look out for treasures. Not only does the game use a retro style to emulate childhood games, but it also simulates old computers and handhelds in order to capture that feel of playing games while growing up.
The Adventures of Elena Temple takes players to a dungeon filled with fifty rooms to explore, each its own self-contained level where they’ll have to hop over traps and pits as well as shoot down pesky creatures. While exploring, players will want to look out for coins, gems that need to be collected to escape the dungeon, and secret areas that are hidden out of sight.
With the game’s retro visual style, the developer has also added backdrops of rooms in old houses, as well as framing the game within old computers, tvs, and handhelds, all inspired by actual units. This is done to deepen that sense that the player is working through a game from their childhood, trying to recreate the visuals of their old homes and systems.
The Adventures of Elena Temple is available now on Itch.io and Steam.
