Sony Interactive Entertainment announced changes in organizational structure to further reinforce the company’s business and operational strength going forward.
As PlayStation continues to grow on a global scale, Sony has made it an increasingly important priority to meet the needs of the different markets around the world. Jim Ryan, who was recently appoined deputy president, will have sales and marketing divisions of SIEA, SIEE, and SIEJA report directly to him.
In order to ensure the coordination between Sony’s organizations and support functions that are overseen locally, President and CEO John Kodera and Jim Ryan will assume the role of executive in charge of regions. Kodera will be responsible for the Americas and Japan Asia while Jim Ryan handles Europe. The current SIEJA President Atsushi Morita will report directly to Kodera to support management of cross-functional activities for Japan Asia.
Sony says that its “mission to create and develop the most attractive and powerful first party titles has become more important than ever.” And in order to fulfill this purpose, Shawn Layden, current Chairman of Worldwide Studios (WWS) and SIEA President, will focus on WWS continuing to provide “platform-defining content” that helps drive the growth of Sony Interactive Entertainment.
Lastly, Phil Rosenberg has been appointed Head of Global Publisher and Developer Relations as of January 2018. Hideaki Nishino is set to assume the role of Head of Platform Planning and Management effective April 1.
