CyberConnect2 president Hiroshi Matsuyama is featured in this week’s issue of Famitsu magazine, where three new titles of its “Next Plan” project were revealed, and one is related to Tail Concerto. [Thanks, Ryokutya2089.]
There are three titles, and they all have a theme of “revenge” of some sort. The first title is called Fugue of the Battlefield. It features anthropomorphic dogs and cats in a youthful adventure of a dramatic strategy RPG. It takes place in the Little Tail Bronx setting of Tail Concerto and Solatorobo. Not much else is known about the game so far, but it has shooting action and roguelike elements.
The third title is called Tokyo Ogre Gate. It is set in Tokyo (written as 刀凶 “Cursed Blade” instead of 東京) and it is a high-speed action game that has a system where your attack increases the faster you go.
And lastly, there’s Cecile, a goth loli 2.5D stylish action game, where you use an umbrella and a swordstick. The main characters are four girls, one who lost her husband, one who lost both legs, one who lost her entire body, and one who lost her voice.
In the interview with Famitsu, Matsuyama talked about the company’s ability to make about 2 to 3 games with staff in their 20s. From here they plan to further increase the company’s development line from 3 to 6 by adding 100 new staff members over the next two years.
Furthermore, CyberConnect2 is working on a small-scale project called “C5” that will be self-published. Matsuyama says that it’s a small project that will be made in a short period of time, and something only they can do.
Work on Project Venom is currently at a halt. A lead developer for C5 wasn’t a fit, but he’s working as a director on a big title.
