Square Enix shared a new batch of screenshots for Dragon Quest Builders’ upcoming Nintendo Switch version, including a look at some exclusive content that players can expect to see on Switch.
Dragon Quest Builders is set in Alefgard, the world of the very first Dragon Quest title. It takes place in a parallel world where the hero accepted the Dragonlord’s request before the final battle.
The above is a look at the protagonist (male and female) who appears to revive in a desolate world.
From here, they’ll gather material in order to rebuild Alefgard from scratch while restoring light to the lands.
Once you reach a certain point of the game, you can unlock the Free Build Mode that allows you to freely build anything you want without worrying about getting attacked from monsters.
One of the new features exclusive to the Nintendo Switch version is the Great Sabrecub that you can ride on. By defeating monsters with the Great Sabrecub, they drop special crafting materials called Pixels.
Using the Pixels, you can take them to a cartridge-style workstation to create terrain such as grassy fields and mountains from the original Dragon Quest. You’ll also get to create themain character, the king, and other characters from the game in 8-bit style.
First-print copies of Dragon Quest Builders on Nintendo Switch come with special “Slime’s Eyes” and “Slime’s Mouth” decorative items that can be placed on blocks to make them look like Slimes.
Dragon Quest Builders releases in Japan on March 1, 2018 for Nintendo Switch. The game will release in North America and Europe on February 9.
