Monster Hunter: World has a planned Deluxe Edition with a cosmetic Samurai set, and previously it was reported that new monsters will be added post-launch as well, so perhaps it may not be a surprise that cosmetic-only armor is planned for the game post-launch, according to producer Ryozo Tsujimoto in an interview. [Thanks, Famitsu]
Here are the highlights of the interview:
Famitsu: What is planned in terms of post-launch event quests and DLC?
Ryozo Tsujimoto, producer: “After the game launches, we are planning several rounds of free updates for the game to ensure longevity. For example, several months later we add new monsters, and updates similar to this. Furthermore, we are planning to release limited-time event quests in intervals, which will give materials for collaboration armor, etc.”
Kaname Fujioka, executive director: “Regarding the free updates, it will be a bit larger in scale compared to previous games, which were mainly event quest-based. We want to release monsters with effort put into them, in order to make players want to dive even deeper into the game.”
Tsujimoto: “Also, apart from this, we have cosmetic paid DLC planned, which won’t affect character abilities.”
Famitsu: Are there any character costumes, or features where you can change the look of your character?
Tsujimoto: “We are thinking of being able to change the Guild Receptionist’s outfit, something along those lines. The cosmetic armors have no effect on game progress or abilities, so it’s feature people who like changing the look of their armor would like.”
Monster Hunter: World will release on January 26, 2018 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. A PC version will arrive later.
