Back in July 2017, Mike Ybarra, Corporate Vice President of Xbox Program Management, suggested that a feature would be coming to the Xbox One that would allow people to gift digital copies of games from the Xbox Store to one another. In October 2017, the option was made available to Xbox Insider Program members. Now, Ybarra has announced that Xbox One game gifting is available to all system owners.

When people log into their Xbox One or Xbox One X and visit the store, they will now see a new option. It is possible to choose to “Buy as Gift.” This will then send an email or Xbox Live message to the person you choose with a code for the game. This works on standard and Play Anywhere games that work on the Xbox One and Windows 10.

The Xbox One and Xbox One X are both immediately available.
