Nintendo has released a new Mario Party: The Top 100 trailer that goes over the different ways people will get to play the game. While someone can pick and choose which games to play alone or with three friends, there are also three game modes to choose from on Minigame Island. In addition, the game supports amiibo.
The three modes in Mario Party: The Top 100 are Decathalon, Minigame Match, and Championship Battles. Decathalon lets you play five or ten minigames and compete for a high score. Minigame Match has you pick a pack of minigames, like GameCube Pack, and try to get the most stars. (For every 10 coins, you get a star.) Championship Battles is a best-of-three or best-of-five tournament where the player who is most successful after three or five games wins.
The amiibo compatibility is discussed in the second part of the video. On Minigame Island, there are occasionally spaces where you can scan amiibo. Doing so with ooe of the Mario series compatible figures, like Mario, Luigi, Peach, Toad, Yoshi, Bowser, Waluigi, Wario, the Goomba, Daisy, Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, Rosalina, Koopa Troopa, and Boo, will give you coins. Each one gives 10 coins. However, if Goomba or Koopa Troopa are on the amiibo space, you can tap their amiibo to get 50 coins instead. Tapping an amiibo on the Game Over screen, after running out of lives, will give you a single extra life. You can also get fast access to the Goomba Pack or Koopa Troopa Pack by scanning their figures on the minigame selection screen.
Mario Party: The Top 100 will come to the Nintendo 3DS in North America on November 10, 2017. It will arrive in Europe in January 2018.
