An alchemist who travels to all kinds of different places and loves traveling more than anyone. She has grown much taller and looks more like an adult. Her friendly personality that makes her easy to get along with is still the same. Her skills as an alchemist has also grown formidably, and has a flourishing atelier that she opened in Merveille. She learned how to use a bow from her older sister Liane, and trains as a hunter.

Occupation: Alchemist

An alchemist who was personally invited by the country to start an atelier in Merveille. She ends up somewhat being forced into becoming Lydie and Suelle’s master, but with her caring nature and the enthusiasm from the twins, she makes for a reliable teacher. Her talent as an alchemist is about equal to that of Firis’, but she has her ways about not being straightforward and can be a meddler at times.

Lydie and Suelle’s real father. He’s full of failures when it comes to alchemist, but shows extraordinary talent as a painter. He has a frank personality, but also has some wasteful habits. For this reason, his twin daughters often call him a “no good father.” He can be a bit of a mad scientist, as he comes up with new recipes that fail and blow up the pot.

In order to have the best atelier in the country, the sisters didn’t know how to go about it at first, but they soon learn that they’ll need to do so by ranking up in the “Atelier Rank System” to become the number one atelier.

017

To increase Atelier Rank, you’ll need to take on trials from the kingdom. Before being able to take on those trails, you’ll need to increase the atelier reputation. In order to do that, you’ll use Suelle’s  Ambition Notebook that is filled with tasks to increase the rep.

Once you have enough reputation, you’ll get to take on a trial and rank up. By doing so, you’ll unlock new “Mysterious Painting” worlds. These worlds have different alchemy ingredients, so that means the higher your rank goes the more you’ll get to synthesize.

In Atelier Lydie & Suelle you’ll have parties that consist of up to three teams of two with each pair having a frontline and backline character. Since a character’s turn order changes according to the actions they take, you won’t always see the same order of character turns.

The game has a “Support Guard” feature that lets other characters cover and take damage on behalf of Lydie and Suelle. There’s also a “Follow Skill” system that can be activated by the backline character when the frontline partner meets certain conditions. For example if Lydie or Suelle are in the back, the frontline character can use “Battle Mix” which synthesizes items in battle.

By using “Battle Recipes” to synthezies during battles, you can even get items that are exclusively made in combat.

028

You can also use a specific combination of front and backline characters to perform super attacks called “Combination Arts.” Details on that are unknown for the time being, but we’ll learn more about it in the near future.

Atelier Lydie & Suelle: Alchemists of the Mysterious Painting releases in Japan on December 21, 2017 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and Nintendo Switch. The game launches in North America, Europe, and Asia in 2018 plus a PC release.
