Square Enix shared their latest financial results where the company talked about the performance of the MMORPG title Final Fantasy XIV, which is currently at a record high in subscriber numbers.
Company president Yosuke Matsuda mentions in the briefing that Square Enix’s MMO sub-segment saw both sales and income rise on the back of the release of Final Fantasy XIV expansion packs and the growth in the paying subscriber base.
The above gives us a look how sales of Final Fantasy XIV’s Stormblood expansion increased the number of paying subscribers and boost in net income.
“Sales of the expansion pack have been brisk, and our paying subscriber numbers are at a record high. We expect the expansion pack to make a sustained earning contribution going forward,” said Matsuda of the MMORPG title’s performance.
Dragon Quest X, the company’s other MMORPG title, is getting a new expansion pack and is also celebrating its fifth anniversary soon, which they hope to see further expansion as we have with Final Fantasy XIV.
Final Fantasy XIV is available on PlayStation 4 and PC.
