With two weeks until Dragon Quest XI’s release in Japan, Square Enix teased a few scenes with a glimpse at the past and secrets of the main crew, new characters, and the drama that awaits.
The above shows the main characters in various situations, thinking back at their past struggles and problems they face. Even the always-happy Silvia is shown saying “How strange it is. I didn’t think I’d ever come back to this town, but here I return in such a way.”
Here’s a look at various new characters, including a beautiful woman we’ve yet to see. They’re said to be different people who hold the key to the truth. Not much else is known about them, but there are some familiar-looking characters that look like Dragon Quest III-style heroes. There’s even a Hero wielding what appears to be Erdrick’s Sword.
And finally, we get a look at the Tree of Life that appears to be withering, along with an ominous purple atmosphere coming from it. Rotozetasia’s fate is uncertain, and we’ll learn more about its truth during the protagonist and company’s adventure.
Dragon Quest XI releases in Japan on July 29, 2017 for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo 3DS. The game is also in development for Nintendo Switch.
