We learned yesterday that Nintendo is discontinuing their plug-and-play NES Classic Edition device in North America. The company also announced that Japan will temporarily halt production of the Famicom Mini.

Considering how the mini Nintendo consoles have been selling well around the globe, it came as a surprise to hear about the company discontinuing the product in North America, and it looks like Japan will also go through the same thing, where the Famicom Mini has been in high demand since its launch.

The company’s notice states that production has temporarily discontinued in Japan. In the case they restart its production, they’ll have an announcement on the official website.

The NES Classic Edition launched on November 11, 2016 in North America and Europe. The Nintendo Classic Mini: Family Computer launched in Japan on November 10, 2016.
