Square Enix announced during a recent live stream that their MMORPG title Dragon Quest X releases on PS4 this summer, Nintendo Switch this summer/fall in Japan, and that service for the Wii version has terminated.
A beta test period is planned for sometime prior to Dragon Quest X’s launch on PS4 and Nintendo Switch. Production of the Wii version of the game has already ended and they’re planning on terminating its service.
Similar to how Final Fantasy XIV dropped PlayStation 3 support in order to provide updates without being held back by a previous generation console, Dragon Quest X will do the same with its Wii version. There are plans for a campaign that will help those on the Wii version move onto the upcoming Nintendo Switch version with ease.
Dragon Quest X is available on Wii, Wii U, Nintendo 3DS, iPhone, Android, and PC. It’s headed to PS4 this summer and Switch this summer or fall in Japan.
