The first Mario vs. Donkey Kong game is making its Virtual Console debut in North America. Nintendo Wii U owners can help Mario reclaim stolen Mini-Marios from Donkey Kong while traversing a toy factory. Though, this is actually its second Virtual Console appearance, as the game was one of the Nintendo 3DS Ambassador Program games released in 2011.
Mario vs. Donkey Kong originally appeared on the Game Boy Advance in 2004 and plays like the 1994 Donkey Kong game released on the Game Boy. Players follow Mario as they go through multiple levels, guiding Mini-Marios to safety. Each one will have Mario going through an area to reclaim one toy, trying to get a Mini-Marios from one place to another, or attempting to defeat Donkey Kong. In the supplemental and more challenging Plus and Extra levels, Mario needs to get keys and lead them to doors, sometimes while protecting a Mini-Mario.
Mario vs. Donkey Kong is $6.99 on the Nintendo Wii U eShop.
