Persona 5 breaks with tradition and, instead of Social Links, offers the Phantom Thieves various confidants they can trust. Connecting with these characters provides bonuses both in and out of battle. Earlier this month, Atlus introduced us to Sojiro Sakura, Cafe Leblanc’s owner, Munehisa Iwai, the Untouchable airsoft gun shop owner, and Tae Takemi, who runs a clinic. Today, we meet Hifumi Togo, Sadayo Kawakami, and Toranosuke Yoshida.
Hifumi Togo is a grandmaster Shogi player. Our Persona 5 hero can become her playing partner in his spare time. This will help her develop new strategies and practice, while also giving the party new tactics they can use in battle. As an example, getting to know her will help you learn how to run from an ambush or switch playable characters during a battle.
Sadayo Kawakami is the protagonist’s homeroom teacher in Persona 5. But, she isn’t just a teacher. She’s also a maid. After you find this out, you can pay for her to cook and clean and get the ability to engage in other activities, like reading or crafting, in class.
Toranosuke Yoshida is one of the few honest politicians in the world and tries to convince people to make Japan a better place. Should you spend time with him at Shibuya Station Square, you’ll become more articulate and charismatic. This means you’ll have more options when engaging negotiations during a battle, perhaps getting more items for your efforts.
Persona 5 will come to the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 in North America and Europe on April 4, 2017.
