Nintendo has already noted that Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS will not have Mystery Mushrooms and their amiibo costumes, like the Nintendo Wii U version of the game. It also won’t have stereoscopic 3D support, won’t be compatible with all levels made for the console version or allow people to search for levels via Course ID. The handheld version will only let you share courses over StreetPass and local multiplayer as well. However, it will have 100 built-in courses with medal challenges, the ability to make courses with other players locally. It has yet to offer information on how amiibo compatibility would work with this installment.

Update: Nintendo has updated the official amiibo website and removed Super Mario Maker for the Nintendo 3DS from the list of upcoming games with amiibo support.

Super Mario Maker is coming to the Nintendo 3DS in North America and Europe on December 2, 2016.
