Hideo Kojima made an appearance at this year’s Tokyo Game Show, the first time he has in two years, and he addressed a question from a fan asking if rumors of his involvement in Metal Gear Survive are true.

The question comes from a fan stating that they’ve seen rumors online about Metal Gear Survive being something that was made from Kojima’s ideas. Here are some of his quotes on the subject on Twitter over at Kojima Productions’ official account:

“That is incorrect. I’m not involved at all, and I don’t know anything about it. Personally speaking, Metal Gear Solid is espionage to me, political fiction.”

“I don’t think zombies would appear in such a world.” (Kojima). “I never heard anything about that from [Kojima]. Personally, I consider Metal [Gears] to be bipedal weapons. I wonder if they’ll appear.” (Yoji Shinkawa). “A Metal Gear without a Metal [Gear]? That’s the Famicom version lol.”

Metal Gear Survive releases for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in 2017. You can check out its Tokyo Game Show 2016 footage in our earlier report.
