The Idolmaster KR will be receiving a worldwide release. The Korean drama, an Amazon Prime original Korean drama, is inspired by Bandai Namco’s The Idolmaster series. It will be translated into multiple languages, with both English and Japanese confirmed.

The Idolmaster KR doesn’t involve 765 Productions or any of its idols. It stars a cast of original characters, with the stars picked from a number of open auditions, with public voting determining the final cast. Coco, Cheon Jane, Heo Youngjoo, Hur Joungjoo, Jin Nayoung, Kang Yeseul, Kwon Haseo, Lee Jeewon, Lee Suji, Lee Yeeun, Mint, Son Hyunmi, Sori, and Yukika Teramoto are the women who have been picked to star in the program. A number are already famous in their own right, as CocoSori already perform together as a Kpop duo, Yukika voiced Kaname Nonomiya in Gal Gun, Mint was part of Tiny-G and performs under the name Mintty, and Jane and Suji (as Halla) were part of The Ark.

The three The Idolmaster KR songs performed during the audition periods so far are “Kkum-eul… Dream,” “One for All,” and “Ready!!” That last song has appeared in The Idolmaster 2, The Idolmaster Shiny Festa, The Idolmaster: One for All, and The Idolmaster: Platinum Stars. It was also used in The Idolmaster anime series.

The Idolmaster KR will appear on Amazon Prime in 2017.
