Last May, Nintendo announced its partnership with Universal Studios Japan, and now more details are coming out about the collaboration. [Thanks, @FamboyinJapan.]

The head of Universal Studios Japan told Mainichi Shinbun that the new Mario area intended for the park is expected to exceed the Harry Potter section. Additionally, Sankei Shinbun reported that, while the Harry Potter section in Universal Studios Japan required $400 million to build, the Nintendo section could possibly go over $500 million.

Aside from Mario, “many” of Nintendo’s IPs are also currently being considered for the Nintendo area, which will be open by the 2020 Olympics.

Universal Studios Japan may officially announce the upcoming Nintendo section of the theme park by the end of this year.
