Yacht Club Games made two important Shovel Knight announcements this week. The first is that the PlayStation Vita version of the game will be getting a physical release, just like the PlayStation 4, Nintendo 3DS, and Nintendo Wii U versions of the game. The second is a wealth of details about Specter Knight, the next free campaign being added to the game.
Fangamer and Yacht Club Games are working on the physical copy of Shovel Knight for the PlayStation Vita. It will be $24.99, the same price as the Nintendo 3DS, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Wii U physical releases, and be released sometime in October 2016. It will be compatible with the existing digital version, region-free, and support cross-save. A 42-page instruction manual will be included, and the 2.0 version of the game with the Plague of Shadows campaign and Challenge Mode will be on the cartridge. It will also receive all future game updates for free.
Yacht Club Games also offered some details about how Specter Knight will work in his campaign, which will be the next one released for Shovel Knight. This free update will allow people to go through a new story as this additional character, complete with new Challenges and Feats for him. It will also be released alongside either the Battle Mode or Body Swap modes.
Specter Knight’s standard attack is a slash. It can be combined with a jump for a dash slash that can hit an opponent either above or below. While his jumps aren’t as high as Shovel Knight or Plague Knight, Specter Knight can climb up vertical walls.
Shovel Knight is immediately available for the PC, Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo Wii U, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and Xbox One.
