DotEmu and Lizard Cube have launched a countdown website for Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap. Two days from now, a game related in some way to Wonder Boy III will be announced. At the moment, all visitors can do is see a new promotional image, see how much longer until the announcement is made, and submit an email address to be notified when new information is available.

The original Wonder Boy III: The Dragon’s Trap first appeared on the Sega Master System in 1989, though it also appeared on the TurboGrafx-16 in 1991 and the Game Gear in 1992. The TurboGrafx-16 version has even appeared worldwide via the Nintendo Wii Virtual Console. The game follows Wonder Boy after he heads to fight the Mecha Dragon, but is then turned into Lizard-Man. He then must fight dragons across the world so he can undo the curse placed on him. It was an open-world game, where players could challenge dragons in any order they liked, and Wonder Boy eventually also gained the ability to change into Hawk-Man, Lion-Man, Mouse-Man, and Piranha-Man, as well as starting the game as Hu-Man.

This Wonder Boy III: The Dragon’s Trap countdown website will reveal its secrets at 10am ET/9am CT/7am PT on June 2, 2016.
