With about a month until this year’s E3, Square Enix has began their “Road to E3” blog series with their first post featuring an update on what we can expect to see from the company at the big event next month.
Square Enix Presents
Similar to previous years, Square Enix announcements will be discussed on their Square Enix Presents live show, where they’ll be debriefing us on the latest news and providing an in-depth look into games throughout the entirety of E3.
We can expect to see developer interviews, exclusive live game demos, guests from the company, with old and new content to share with fans. You’ll be able to catch the program live through Square Enix’s Twitch and YouTube live stream channels.
Demos
In addition to the Square Enix Presents live program, those who visit Square Enix’s booth at E3 will get a chance to try out demos for some of their upcoming titles. Here are some that will be available on the show floor:
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, the sequel to the critically acclaimed Deus Ex: Human Revolution®, builds on the franchises trademark choice and consequence, action-RPG based gameplay, to create both a memorable and highly immersive experience. Players will once again take on the role of Adam Jensen, now an experienced covert agent, and will gain access to his new arsenal of customizable state-of-the-art weapons and augmentations. With time working against him, Adam must choose the right approach, along with who to trust, in order to unravel a vast worldwide conspiracy.
Hitman
Our Episodic release of the latest Hitman game is in full steam and we’ll be releasing information about the third installment of our seven-part World of Assassination experience. We’ve previously shown Paris & Sapienza. What exciting destination will Agent 47 head to next?
Hitman is the sixth game in the blockbuster series and is the culmination of a journey started by Io-Interactive more than 17 years ago. It builds on the critically acclaimed and commercially successful foundation of games like Silent Assassin, Blood Money and the recent Hitman: Absolution.
Just Cause 3
Our newest Just Cause 3 DLC entitled the Land Mech Assault pack will be playable. Previously released DLC, Sky Fortress, took to the air as Rico Rodriguez got a massive upgrade to his wing suite. This latest DLC takes Rico’s chaos causing arsenal back to land where he’ll be able to take control of some devastating mechanized weapons.
The Mediterranean republic of Medici is suffering under the brutal control of General Di Ravello, a dictator with an insatiable appetite for power. Enter Rico Rodriguez, a man on a mission to destroy the General’s hold on power by any means necessary. With over 400 square miles of complete freedom from sky to seabed and a huge arsenal of weaponry, gadgets and vehicles, prepare to unleash chaos in the most creative and explosive ways you can imagine.
Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness
With its upcoming launch of June 28th, fans will be able to play the fifth installment of this epic sci-fi RPG.
The latest chapter of the highly anticipated sci-fi role-playing game (RPG) series will be arriving in 2016. Developed by tri-Ace, the celebrated studio behind the Star Ocean series, and with character design by akiman (Akira Yasuda), the game is an epic adventure that introduces seamless transitions between gameplay and dynamic cut scenes, creating a new level of depth of immersive storytelling in video games.
I Am Setsuna
Our Tokyo RPG Factory’s first introduction to the gaming world, I Am Setsuna, is a homage to the the RPGs that paved the way for current generations of games and gamers.
Established in August 2014, Tokyo RPG Factory is a new studio within Square Enix specializing in Japanese RPGs. The studio revisits the ethos and practices used to develop for the 16-bit era and aims to re-introduce the classic JRPG style to current hardware, mixing the spirit of the past with technologies of today.
Taking inspiration from the golden era of JRPGs and their story telling, innovation and depth – the first title from the studio, I Am Setsuna, will arrive in Europe and North America in 2016.
Square Enix Collective
The company’s crowd funding initiative to help developers get their games out to the masses, Square Enix Collective, will make its debut on the show floor of E3 with two playable demos of recently successful campaigns.
The Turing Test
The Turing Test is a first person puzzler from the developers of ‘Pneuma: Breath of Life’ that explores the phenomena of consciousness and challenges the meaning of human intuition. Take control of Ava Turing, an engineer for the International Space Agency (ISA), and progress through a narrated story of introspection and morality whilst uncovering the hidden mysteries of Europa. Delve into The Turing Test’s human interaction puzzles and arm yourself with logical and methodical thinking. Take on tests designed in such a way that only a human could solve them. In an evolving story based on mankind’s inherent need to explore, protect and survive; players search deeper into Europa’s ice crusted core and transcend the line between man and machine.
Investigate the truth behind the ISA research base on Jupiter’s moon Europa. Solve puzzles using your Energy Manipulation Tool (EMT) to transfer power out from one object and into another. Power up and take control of artificially intelligent machines, manipulate giant structures and solve complex tasks; all woven into a multi-layered story based on the human struggle for control. The Turing Test can only be experienced through the interactive medium of video games.
The Turing Test sparks your synapses into action in this electrifying new first person puzzler, as players learn the true cost of retaining human morality.
Black The Fall
Black The Fall is an atmospheric game set-up in a communist dystopian era. Playing as Black, an obedient factory worker, you get one chance to outsmart the oppressive system, but the road to freedom is paved with puzzles, pitfalls and manipulation. A door malfunctions, an opportunity arises. Once out, what will you do to survive?
We’ve got some other exciting demos lined up on the show floor, but we’ll save those updates for our Road To E3 Part 2 blog, which will feature some exciting Tomb Raider news and details on a few new games that our team has been hard at work on. Meanwhile, be sure to follow our official Square Enix social media channels where we’ll be posting news before, during and after E3 2016!
