Hideo Kojima of Kojima Productions shared what theyā€™ve been up to in an interview with Famitsu magazine. [Thanks, Hachima.]

After leaving [Konami] you immediately opened a new studio, but did you actually want to take some time off?

ā€œI did want to get some rest, but taking some rest means my life tempo will go out of order, and nobody would forgive me for that. Iā€™ll need about a year to warm-up. As for now, we made the logo and webpage, been at the temporary office.ā€

About the logo

ā€œI canā€™t say yet, but the secret is found in the logo. The whole body [of the logo] actually looks super cool, and weā€™re planning on making it into a figure.ā€

The reason for making the first title with SIE (Sony Interactive Entertainment)

ā€œIā€™ve had offers come from all around the world, but they all work in Hollywood method, and I didnā€™t feel like doing any kind of detailed presentation. Thatā€™s when I was wondering who would trust me in me with just a rough concept, and thatā€™s when I found SIE. Theyā€™re giving me a vast amount of freedom, which makes it very easy to work with.ā€

About the new title

ā€œItā€™s an amazing game. Along with the plot, characters, and game system, Iā€™m brainstorming everything equally. Some parts are very new, so Iā€™ll need to experiment with it.ā€

ā€œI wonā€™t say that itā€™s an open-world title, but those that enjoy playing todayā€™s AAA titles such as The Division and Uncharted will be able to play it smoothly. When it gets announced some may thing that itā€™s not as way-out as they had expected, but Iā€™m sure theyā€™ll understand once they play it. The genre is action.ā€

About VR

ā€œIā€™d like to make something for it, but we donā€™t have anyone. I believe VR holds a key to game development.ā€

ā€œVR gave me a close sense of when I played on the Famicom as a child. I definitely believe that a new world will be born,ā€ added Kojima Productions artist Yoji Shinkawa.
