CyberConnect2 is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, and company president and CEO Hiroshi Matsuyama shared some of his thoughts going into its 21st year next year in an interview with Famitsu. [Thanks, Hachima]

During the interview, Famitsu asks Matsuyama about how they heard of a new studio of CyberConnect2’s that will be opening in Montreal, Canada.

“It’s a complete development studio,” responded Matsuyama. “We’re in the midst of worldwide developments, and I thought ‘we might need some blue-eyed samurai?’ about our first phase of expanding outside. I believe there are still many foreigners that would like to have a shot at Japanese-style creativity.”

Next they ask the CEO and president to share more about his vision on the future.

“Without any change to my personal goal or objective, it’ll be to continue this job until I die,” said Matsuyama. “At the moment, I’m thinking about making our creativity more free and flexible. While you can make a title by collecting ten billion yen and selling ten million copies, I believe there are still many other ways of taking on the fight.”
