Xbox 360 Manufacturing Ends After 10 Years

On November 22, 2005, Microsoft introduced the Xbox 360 to the world. In that time, Microsoft says the system had, “78 billion gaming hours played, nearly 486 billion Gamerscore on 27 billion achievements and over 25 billion hours spent on apps over its lifetime.” And now, the system’s lifespan is drawing to a close, as the company will stop making new Xbox 360s. The systems you see on store shelves now will be the last of their kind.

Though Microsoft won’t be making new systems, it will still support the Xbox 360. In the announcement, it confirmed that people will still be able to enjou Xbox Live services on the Xbox 360, game servers are still online, and can turn to Xbox.com for help. The notification says that Xbox 360 games and accessories will remain in stores while supplies last and be available digitally through the Xbox online storefront.

Currently, two Xbox 360 models are available through the Microsoft Store. One is a $159.99 4Gb Xbox 360 bundle that includes Peggle 2. The other is a $199.99 500GB Xbox 360 bundle with Forza Horizon 2.
