Yesterday, Square Enix announced it would release I am Setsuna outside of Japan. However, the company only confirmed PlayStation 4 and Windows PC releases. It didn’t mention the PlayStation Vita version of the game. The handheld version was brought up during an USgamer interview conducted with Atsushi Hashimoto, I am Setsuna’s Producer, at GDC 2016.
When asked if I am Setsuna could be released outside of Japan, Hashimoto told USgamer’s Kat Bailey, “Of course, there is a large Vita market in Japan. If there is a swell of demand in North America [for the Vita version], though, we will consider it.” He also said that the game was originally designed to be played on a big screen, like one would have when playing the PlayStation 4 and Windows PC version. This comment has led to people posting their desire for the PlayStation Vita version of I am Setsuna on Facebook and Twitter.
I am Setsuna is set in a world where demons assault innocent humans. To keep them from constantly rampaging, maidens are sacrificed. Players follow Setsuna, the latest of these women, as she heads with a group of companions to go and perform the ritual that will calm the monsters.
PlayStation 4 and Windows PC owners in North America and Europe will be able to play I am Setsuna in summer 2016.
