Next month, Pokkén Tournament will finally release on the Wii U. However, Bandai Namco has recently commented that players should not expect a portable version for the Nintendo 3DS anytime soon.

Developer Masaaki Hoshino spoke with GameSpot about the difficulty of replicating the graphics of the Wii U version of Pokkén Tournament onto the 3DS.

Here is Hoshino’s full comment:

“It’s definitely a challenge to get it on the Wii U with what we’re doing right now. And it definitely would be a challenge to have the same graphical experience on the 3DS.”

Additionally, Bandai Namco’s Katsuhiro Harada also spoke about  the improbability of a 3DS version of the Pokémon fighting game, though it seems he feels the challenge lies more in the financial aspect rather than the graphical. Here is what he had to say:

“Programmer does not need technology. Programmer needs budget.”

Pokkén Tournament will release worldwide for the Wii U on March 18th.
