The fifth Shiren the Wanderer game will be released outside of Japan. Aksys has picked up the Vita version of the game. It will be known as Shiren the Wanderer: The Tower of Fortune and the Dice of Fate in North America.

Shiren the Wanderer: The Tower of Fortune and the Dice of Fate is a roguelike JRPG with randomized dungeons. Players follow Shiren and his weasel sidekick, Koppa, as they go through areas and attempt to collect treasures, defeat enemies, and clear dungeons without dying. Various items and equipment can be collected and used, but if Shiren dies in a dungeon, he loses everything he’s found.

Shiren the Wanderer 5 was originally released on the Nintendo DS in 2010, then ported to the PlayStation Vita in 2015. The PlayStation Vita version of the game added new dungeons, local competitive and cooperative multiplayer, and the ability to make friends with monsters so they can aid Shiren on his travels. People can also send out rescue requests if they fall in a dungeon, in the hopes of getting revived instead of having to start over from the beginning again.
