With Dragon Quest Builders releasing on January 28 in Japan, Square Enix and Sony started a campaign that involves removing thousands of blocks on an 80 meter wall at a metro station in Shinjuku, Tokyo. [Thanks, Game Jouhou.]
The goal of this campaign is for Tokyo commuters to remove some of the 180,000 blocks that are located at the Metro Promenade at the Marunouchi Line of the Shinjuku Station. The giant block-covered wall shows a Dragonlord and various monsters that must have their blocks removed in order to be defeated and have the poster revealed.
The campaign starts on January 28, at 7AM JST, and anyone can participate. Out of the 180,000 blocks, there are 3000 that have special QR codes, and reading it with a smartphone will reveal an original wallpaper.
There’s also the “Shinjuku Monster Road,” where fans will see some familiar monsters. Out of the 30 monsters, there are three that are marked with “?” that will be revealed on January 26.
Dragon Quest Builders will release in Japan on January 28, 2016 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation Vita. The Shinjuku metro station event will carry on until January 31.
