Last week, Japan got a number of new releases that made it just on time for the holidays. You might have also noticed that hardware sales have increased for each system in Japan—yes, even the Xbox One—as we’ve seen in the past during the holiday seasons.

Steins;Gate 0 is one of the major release we saw this past week, and while it may not have gotten the top newcomer spot, it’s been spread across three platforms on PlayStation Vita (38,746 units,) PlayStation 4 (38,156,) and PlayStation 3 (8,645) for a total of 85,547 units sold.

There’s been plenty of Steins;Gate releases in the past throughout its various ports and couple side titles, but to give you an idea on how Steins;Gate 0 compares to one of the more popular releases in the past— Steins;Gate on PSP (2011) sold 63,558 units.

It’s also interesting to see how close the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita versions sold, with the Steins;Gate 0 on Vita barely out-selling the former. Looking at how low the PlayStation 3 version sold compared to the other two, it’s safe to assume that a good amount of the series’ fanbase has already moved onto PS4.

On top of the list for newcomers is Senran Kagura producer Kenichiro Takaki’s first title of his cross-media project, Valkyrie Drive: Bhikkhuni on PlayStation Vita, which saw 39,013 units sold on its first week.

To give you an idea on how Valkyrie Drive stacks up against Takaki’s main series, for Senran Kagura’s previous console-exclusive releases, we had Senran Kagura 2: Deep Crimson for Nintendo 3DS that saw 46,494 copies in its first week, along with Senran Kagura: Shinovi Versus at 94,324 copies in its first.

Given that Valkyrie Drive: Bhikkhuni is a new IP, we didn’t expect to do much better than past Senran Kagura titles, but the very first Senran Kagura game for 3DS managed to hit 52,206 units sold in its first week, showing that Valkyrie Drive didn’t exactly perform poorly, but it wasn’t great either; however, we’ll likely see its sales continue on over the holidays this month.

Gravity Rush Remastered also made its debut for this week, and saw 25,004 units sold on PlayStation 4. The original game on PlayStation Vita sold 43,462 during its first week, but as for Gravity Rush Remastered it’s a bit on the lower end of things. Nonetheless, this may be expected for a “Remaster” title to some, but keep in mind that it jumped—or should I say… Gravity Kicked, to a new console without many changes or new additions. We’ll likely see much different numbers for Gravity Rush 2 when it releases next year.

Finally, we have Monster Hunter X on top place of all titles this week, and it doesn’t look like it’s going to slow down until after the holidays. Following is Yo-kai Watch Busters, Splatoon, and Super Mario Maker. All of these titles have been selling consistently well for the past few weeks, and they’ll likely continue going strong for the rest of the month.
