There’s been a lot of talk about Koei Tecmo’s decision on not bringing Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 outside of Japan and Asia, and the company has issued an official statement regarding the matter.
A community manager from Koei Tecmo previously stated that the company won’t be releasing Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 in the West due to issues regarding how women are treated in the video game industry.
While the statement from the individual may have stirred up some controversy, Koei Tecmo issued the following statement on their stance and decision for the upcoming title:
The comments recently made by an employee regarding Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 on the official Dead or Alive Facebook page only reflect that individual’s opinion and not the opinion or business strategy of Koei Tecmo Games.
We remain focused on delivering the best in fighting entertainment to our fans around the world, while consciously respecting and strategizing to support the different global audiences the Dead or Alive franchise lends itself to.
Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 remains in development and is still planned for release in Japan and Asia only.
Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 will release in Japan and Asia on February 25, 2016 for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita. For those of you who wish to play the game in English, the Asia version will have English subtitles and can be pre-ordered via Play-Asia.
