How do you fancy a book about the localization of the original The Legend of Zelda? Fangamer has published exactly that with Legends of Localization Book 1: The Legend of Zelda. It’s available right now for $29.

It has been written by professional language localizer Clyde "Tomato" Mandelin who has worked on Kingdom Hearts II, Attack on Titan, One Piece, and is involved with the unofficial Mother 3 translation.

This is to be the first in a series of “Legends of Localization” books that looks at the differences between the English and Japanese versions of classic games. It’s a series that is derivative of Mandelin’s work on his website.

This Legend of Zelda-focused book goes into differences in the graphics, audio, and even secret tricks that were removed from the English version. It also includes a look at the various Zelda re-releases to see how the localization has changed over the years.
