Shortly after Super Mario Maker launched, people began using the note blocks to create compositions. Depending on the placement of the note block in the editor, as well as the story of enemy or item dropping onto it, different sounds can be made. Chained together, this creates a song. Many of the musical endeavors have tapped into iconic game music, but now a user by the name of Chagama has recreated a Vocaloid hit.
In Chagama’s Super Mario Maker level, players can hear the opening bars of Hatsune Miku’s “Senbonzakura.” It’s only about 12 seconds worth of music, but given the complexity of that performance, it’s still an impressive feat.
“Senbonzakura” has appeared in Hatsune Miku: Project Diva F and Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai DX. If you’d like to see the performance in Super Mario Maker or check out the rest of Chagama’s work, input the level ID: DDAB-0000-0068-3AA9 in Course World.
