In Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer, Nintendo asks players if they’re willing to share their play data with the company. People have the option of saying yes or no. However, saying yes may prove a more attractive option, as it nets participants a car to use when decorating homes.
A compact car appears in-town outside of Nooks Home, the business that helps animals find a place to live and decorates the inside and outsides of their new abode, as well as creates and customizes in-town facilities. It’s a purely decorative piece, but people who agree to let Nintendo have a sneak peek into their activities by occasionally sending SpotPass updates to the company also get the item to use when designing homes.
It is unknown if there is any other method of unlocking the compact car in Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer, mainly because I agreed to share my data and was given the car as a result. It’s not exactly a decision that can be undone. However, I can confirm that you do get to keep the car even if you change your mind and decide to stop transmitting data from the opening menu. So someone could agree when starting the game, get the compact car item, then stop sending data the next time they’re at the game’s main menu.
Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer will be released on the Nintendo 3DS on September 25.
