Though Neon Genesis Evangelion takes place in a world on the brink of apocalypse, not all of its media adaptations are so dark. Neon Genesis Evangelion: Girlfriend of Steel 2nd, for example, is a visual novel with dating sim elements set in an alternate timeline. In it, Shinji Ikari gets to enjoy an ordinary life, possibly finding love with Asuka, Rei, or Kaworu, perhaps earning both normal and unconventional endings. Now, 10 years after its original release, it has received a fan translation.

Pearce Hillock has released an English translation for the PC version of Neon Genesis Evangelion: Girlfriend of Steel 2nd. Those who own the Windows version of the game can apply the patch, which even localizes some graphics.

If you ever wanted to play a Neon Genesis Evangelion game that involved Shinji acting like a normal, happy, ordinary boy, this could be your opportunity.
