Sega has quietly announced that it will be ending Rhythm Thief & the Paris Caper’s online service at 6 PM (UTC) on September 28th 2015. This comes a couple of months after Sega shut down loads of mobile games due to not meeting its standards.

The announcement was made on the game’s App Store page. It came with this message: “The game went live on October 28th in 2013, and we have constantly strived to deliver a fun and engaging experience. This decision came as a result of various circumstances beyond our control. Again, we would like to thank you for playing.”

The iOS version of Rhythm Thief & the Paris Caper has an always-on connectivity requirement meaning that you can’t play it offline. This should mean that, if Sega is shutting down its online service, that the entire game will be rendered unplayable. That is, unless Sega allows for offline play, of course.

It was also announced that July 28th is the last day that you’ll be able to buy in-app purchases inside Rhythm Thief & the Paris Caper.

Lastly, Sega dropped the $9.99 price of Rhythm Thief & the Paris Caper completely with this online service closure announcement so that anyone who wants it can download it for free.
