In Japan, Nintendo 3DS users that own Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate will get a little “something” as a bonus in Monster Hunter X, Capcom have revealed.

Speaking with Famitsu, series producer Ryozo Tsujimoto points out that Monster Hunter X isn’t an “Ultimate” game, meaning that it isn’t an upgrade to an existing Monster Hunter, so you’ll begin the game from scratch. That said, if you have Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate save data on your 3DS, you’ll receive “something” that will come in handy while hunting, albeit only a little.

Meanwhile, Capcom’s other upcoming Monster Hunter game, Monster Hunter Diary DX, will provide Monster Hunter X players with a little bonus, too. If you happen to have save data for Diary DX on your 3DS when you begin playing Monster Hunter X, you’ll receive something that’s “a little better than from 4 Ultimate,” but only a little.

More details on these little bonuses will be revealed in time, but for now, Capcom say that they’re the sort of bonuses that will be just enough for one to think “that would be nice to have”. Of course, if/when Monster Hunter X comes to the West, Capcom could opt to give Western players more significant bonuses like they did with Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate.

Monster Hunter X will be released in Japan this Fall.
