Yo-kai Watch 3 will be released in Japan sometime during Summer 2016, Level 5 announced today. While that may seem like a long way off, keep in mind that there are a number of other Yo-kai Watch products being released in the interim.
The first of these is Yo-kai Watch Busters, a multiplayer game based on a side mode in Yo-kai Watch 2. Busters, like Yo-kai Watch 2, will be released in two versions, and will be available in Japan this Saturday.
Then there’s Yo-kai Watch: Three Kingdoms, which is being developed in collaboration with Koei Tecmo. There’s very little information available on this game, but one would assume it’s some sort of strategy RPG spin-off, similar to what Pokémon Conquest did a few years ago.
And of course, there’s the Western release of the first Yo-kai Watch. North America will get the game this Fall, with Nintendo handling publishing duties on the game, Viz publishing the manga, and Dentsu Entertainment the anime. You can watch a trailer for that game here.
Coming back to Yo-kai Watch 3, this is the first game in the series that will take place in the USA. Keita—or Nathan, as he’s called in the West—will be based out of a town named St. Peanutsburg. You can read more about that here.
Level 5 also have plans beyond Yo-kai Watch. Their next (hopefully) major I.P. will be Snack World, which they debuted earlier this year.
