Rise of the Tomb Raider didn’t have the best showing at Microsoft’s E3 press conference, in my opinion. The scant footage at the presser heavily emphasized cinematics, dialogue, and the usual “setpieces” that everyone loves to put in their games nowadays. That is the opposite of what made the previous Tomb Raider a great game.
Luckily, like the previous Tomb Raider, Rise of the Tomb Raider is not all about cutscenes and QTEs and setpieces. When you watch actual, meaty gameplay footage, it looks just as fun as the previous game—despite Crystal’s best attempts to convince one otherwise. Following the Microsoft event, the studio released 14 minutes of proper gameplay footage that shows off another section of the game where Lara needs to come to terms with her surroundings and start mapping out a plan-of-action. You can watch this above.
Rise of the Tomb Raider will be released on November 10th for Xbox One and Xbox 360.
