Nintendo shared a new trailer for Fire Emblem If—titled Fire Emblem Fates in the West—at E3 2015 today, and also put out an English press release about the game that gives away an interesting tidbit. Here’s what Nintendo’s press release about their E3 showing says:
Two versions of the franchise’s new installment offer players an unprecedented choice: fight an opposing force or join the other side and try to make changes from within. For the first time in the series, players take on the role of the main character and command an army, while struggling to decide which path to follow: helping blood relatives or the family that raised him or her. The game is scheduled to launch in 2016.
“Two versions” would imply that Fire Emblem Fates will maintain its dual version format in the West. (In Japan, the game has Black Kingdom and White Kingdom versions that each feature a different story path.) Unfortunately, Nintendo do not outright confirm whether this is actually the case.
Fire Emblem Fates will be released in 2016 for Nintendo 3DS.
