Report: Daredevil Producer To Write Screenplay For Live-Action Akira Movie

The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Marco Ramirez, a producer and writer on Daredevil, will handle the screenplay for the upcoming live-action adaptation of Akira.

 

Ramirez wrote episodes of the first season of Daredevil and was subsqquently promoted to running the second season of the show alongside Doug Petrie. The two will replace Steven DeKnight, who handled season one.

 

The Akira adaptation will be distributed by Warner Bros., who acquired the rights to it in 2008. The Hollywood Reporter reports that the adaptation has seen a series of ups and downs owing to numerous writers, directors, and stars joining and leaving the project, but that it came closest to being made in 2012.

 

At present, Andrew Lazar (American Sniper) and Leonardo DiCaprio’s shingle Appian Way are producing the adaptation.
