Valdis Story: Abyssal City has had a major update recently that fixes a ton of smaller issues in the game as well as adds plenty of new content to try out.

Focusing on the additions, Vladyn and Gilda are now playable once you’ve completed the game on any difficulty, you can get a new crew member called Daemahn, there are four new bosses to beat, and there are also two new zones to conquer (Tainted Laboratory and Hall of the Fallen). Plus, you can acquire a new accessory called the Treasure Hunter’s Gimcrack, attain a new Elixir item from one of the new vendors (of which there are two), earn an upgrade for the Mana Key Stone, and buy hats from the new millinery.

Lastly, there are new treasure chests to find and new achievements to earn.

As to the changes, there are far too many to outline briefly, but they range from reduced stun duration but increased stun damage taken, to the Warp Blade summoning a void magic warp blade to strike your target for critical hits, and updated multiple enemy variants. You can see the entire changelog in this announcement post.

If you’re unfamiliar with Valdis Story: Abyssal City, think of it as an action-platformer with a focus on exploration and fights that combine swordsmanship, martial arts, and sorcery. It has been compared to Castlevania in the past as it contains similar elements, and its story follows what’s left of humanity as two warring goddesses who gradually turn them into angels or demons to fight on their side.
