A new Saint Seiya game is coming later this year. Saint Seiya: Soldiers’ Soul is in development for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PC. The Dimps developed fighting game is based on the new anime series, Saint Seiya: Soul of Gold, which just began airing in Japan. Saint Seiya: Soldiers’ Soul will run in 1080p and at 60fps on PlayStation 4 and PC.

Producer Ryo Mito who worked on the Dragon Ball: Raging Blast games and Saint Seiya: Brave Soldiers, demoed the game by showing a fight between Leo Aioria and Pegasus Seiya where Leo used a Big Bang Attack to win the battle. The build we saw was quite early in development with some Japanese voiceovers missing. In addition to Japanese voiceovers, Saint Seiya: Soldiers’ Soul will have Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese voiceovers in the Americas. The game will have English text, but not English voiceovers.

"The characters in the Saint Seiya series aren’t brawny like those from Dragon Ball. One of the key elements is the Saints move around very fast. We tried to express the quickness of the characters so players can feel a sense of speed. If you remember from the manga, the Bronze Saints might get injured, but they comeback stronger with new powers," Mito said when we were talking about the battle system in Saint Seiya: Soldiers’ Soul. "The battle system has been designed with reversals in mind."

Dimps has adjusted the Big Bang Attacks so they are easier to input compared to Brave Soldiers and they are tweaking how much damage these moves do. Players can also activate a Cosmos Blast which changes the scenery to outer space. When this is activated you have a limited amount of time where you are in a power up period and then you end this mode with a Big Bang Attack. Mito also said they’ve added air combos into Saint Seiya: Soldiers’ Soul plus a mix of long range and short range attacks. The game will not have attack canceling though. "We are thinking of the balance between a hardcore fighting game and since it is an anime based game we also want to have visuals that fit the world of Seiya," Mito replied when I asked about working with Dimps.

While Mito could not announce any new characters, he confirmed to Siliconera that the characters from Saint Seiya: Brave Soldiers and downloadable costumes will be in Saint Seiya: Soldiers’ Soul.

Saint Seiya: Soldiers’ Soul is slated for release this fall on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and Steam.
