Shanks and Sabo have appeared scarcely throughout the entire One Piece series, but they’ve always remained quite popular amongst the fans. Bandai Namco’s latest videos show us more of Sabo’s moves, along with a glimpse at the “Red-Haired” Shanks.
The player starts out with a demonstration of Sabo, and to show off a little more of the Bond Parameter. They say to think of the “Bond Attack” as an additional attack after a charge attack, which is shown with Luffy jumping in with some extra hits.
Again, by hitting with Bond Attacks, it’ll make it easier to fill up the Bond Parameter, so it’ll be good idea to throw them in while doing combos to make sure you get the best of it, all while filling up the meter.
At the 2:10 mark of the video, they show off the “Bond Rush” system, which is activated by pressing the R2 button when the bond level is at its max. While in Bond Rush mode, Bond Attacks become stronger, and can be used for further comboing.
There’s a meter next to your ally character’s icon, and once that goes away, it’ll make your Bond level go back to level 1. You can switch around other ally characters, and if you fill up the bonds between them, they’ll also join in on the Bond Rush. All the moves are different per ally character as well.
At 3:58, they take it a step further by showing off the “Special Bond Attack,” which is done by pressing the circle button during a Bond Rush, for a hard-hitting attack with allies.
Finally, the above footage is from a new commercial for the game, and we get a brief look at Shanks. While it might not be much, you can get a little idea on how he’ll play in the upcoming game.
One Piece: Pirate Warriors 3 will release this summer for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and PC. The game launches earlier in Japan, on March 26, 2015.
