Xenoblade Chronicles X is up for pre-downloading in Japan, and the game’s store page confirms that it will support online multiplayer for up to four players. (Thanks, Hachima Kiko)
Monolith Soft have made it so up to four players will be able to undertake quests together; however, they’ve also added a feature whereby up to 32 players will be able to exchange information and trade items with one another.
In a recent interview with Famitsu magazine, Xenoblade Chronicles X executive director stated that the game would allow for a more loose online connection between players, and this raised the question of whether online multiplayer would still be included in the game. Luckily, it looks like it will be.
The download version of Xenoblade Chronicles X in Japan takes up 22.7GB of hard disk space. Previously, Monolith Soft said over Twitter that they recommend buying the digital version of the game as Xenoblade Chronicles X has a seamless world with no loading screens in between areas and streaming the game’s data would be smoother off a hard disk.
However, the retail version of the game will feature some sort of mechanism that allows the game’s maps to load seamlessly as well. At the moment, this is presumed to be some sort of data install feature, although how exactly it will work remains to be seen.
Xenoblade Chronicles X will be released on April 29th in Japan and later this year in North America and Europe.
